Camilla Burg, Head of school

 

Our not for profit associative school is run by a British head of school, Camilla Burg.

 

UK trained 3-6 Montessori teacher, Camilla welcomes each family to school in English each morning.

Camilla - Educatrice Anglophone - Children's House (3=6 ans) - Directrice / Head of school

Camilla est d'origine Britannique. Diplômée en français et en psychologie (y compris en psychologie du développement) de l'université de Lancaster en Angleterre, elle est aussi dotée d'un MBA de San Francisco. Elle a donné des cours d'anglais à des enfants de 5/6 ans dans une école primaire en France pendant plusieurs années et a animé des cours de yoga pour enfants. Elle est diplômée en tant qu'éducatrice 3-6 de Montessori Centre International (MCI/St Nicolas à Londres). Elle a aussi suivi des formations de discipline positive et des formations de communication non violente (CNV). Elle a rejoint notre école en 2014.

Camilla is originally from the UK. She has a degree in French and psychology (including developmental psychology) from Lancaster University and also has an MBA from SFSU having lived in California for 6 years. She taught English lessons at a private school in France for a number of years before joining Etre et Découvrir. She carried out her 3-6 Montessori teacher training with Montessori Centre International (MCI is based in London).  She is trained in positive discipline, non-violent communication and as a yoga kids teacher. She is passionate about teaching children using the Montessori materials and through movement and music. She joined our school in 2014.

Sylvaine - Educatrice Montessori 3-6 / French-speaking Montessori teacher (Orangerie Children's House)

Sylvaine a une formation universitaire bac +5 en sciences de la vie : physiologie et biologie moléculaire. Elle s’est spécialisée en criminalistique en tant qu’ingénieur en empreintes génétiques afin d’allier des défis scientifiques et des enjeux humains de société. Après la naissance de ses enfants Sylvaine s’est tournée vers les sciences de l’éducation, les neurosciences et la psychologie de l’enfance.

 

Elle est diplômée de l’Institut Supérieur Maria Montessori où elle a suivi la formation d’éducatrice AMI pour les enfants de 3 à 6 ans. Elle s’est formée en discipline positive et a suivi une formation savoir-être et écocitoyenneté à l’école Living School de Paris. Après avoir travaillé dans 2 autres écoles Montessori, elle a rejoint notre école en 2020. Toujours connectée à la nature Sylvaine a choisi de s’investir dans une démarche personnelle de développement durable et de protection de la biodiversité en suivant le chemin vers le zéro déchet et la permaculture.

Sylvaine has a post-graduate university degree in life sciences having graduated in molecular biology and physiology. She specialised in forensics and genetic finger-printing combining science and human societal issues. After the birth of her children, Sylvaine moved towards the science of education, the neurosciences and child psychology. She is a graduate of ISMM (the Montessori training Institute of Paris) as a 3-6 AMI Montessori teacher. She is also trained in positive discipline and has followed training in eco-citizenship and “savoir-être” at the Living School in Paris. After experiences working in 2 other Montessori schools, Sylvaine joined our school in 2020. Sylvaine is deeply connected to the natural world and integrates her personal commitment to achieving greater levels of sustainability supporting permaculture principles including zero waste and biodiversity conservation.

Maureen. Educatrice Francophone 6/12 - Elementary Class (6-9 et 9-12 ans)

Etant profondément intéressée par l'épanouissement de l'être dans sa globalité, Maureen souhaite donner la possibilité à chaque enfant de découvrir et d'approfondir la joie d'être l'acteur de son développement. Dans la classe Montessori 6-12, elle invite les enfants à mieux apprendre le respect de leur espace intérieur pour trouver ou retrouver l'unité et la communion bienfaisante, même rayonnante. Elle a terminé sa formation comme éducatrice 6-9 AMI avec Le Centre de Formation Montessori en 2022 et sa formation d'éducatrice 9-12 AMI en 2023. Elle a rejoint notre école en 2021.

 

Maureen is deeply interested in whole child learning and development and specially the ability to unleash the full potential of each and every child. She focuses on developing the opportunity for each child to discover and engage in their own personal self-development and learning. In the 6-12 class, she invites children to learn about respect for their own interior space and allow them to reunite with their own well-being and shine. Maureen completed her AMI 6-9 training with CFMF in 2022 and her 9-12 AMI training with the same AMI accredited training centre in 2023. She has been teaching at Etre et Découvrir since 2021.

Asha - Educatrice Anglophone 6/12 - Elementary Class Teacher (6-9 yrs et 9-12 yrs)

Asha est née et a fait ses études en Inde mais vit en Europe depuis de nombreuses années. Elle parle anglais comme natif et parle également couramment le français. Elle est titulaire d'une maîtrise en éducation de l'Université de Kanpur et du diplôme d'enseignement élémentaire (6-12) Montessori NAMC. Elle a travaillé comme enseignante Montessori au cours des 8 dernières années et, auparavant, comme professeur d'anglais pour adolescents. Elle est une montessorienne passionnée et apporte beaucoup d'idées en classe. Elle aime particulièrement la science et encourager les enfants à penser par eux-mêmes afin de renforcer leur confiance en eux et en leur propre potentiel.

 

Asha incarne véritablement la philosophie Montessori selon laquelle les enfants « sont plus capables de se concentrer et d’absorber des connaissances lorsqu’ils sont motivés par les activités de classe».  Asha a rejoint notre école début 2022.

 

Asha was born and educated in India but has lived in Europe for many years. She speaks English to native level and is also fluent in French. She has an M.A. in Education from the University of Kanpur and the NAMC elementary Montessori teaching diploma. She has worked as a Montessori teacher for the past 8 years and prior to this worked as an English teacher for adolescents. She is a passionate Montessorian and brings lots of ideas into the classroom. She particularly loves science and encouraging children to think for themselves in order to build their self-confidence and belief in their own potential.

 

Asha truly embodies the Montessori ethos that children “are more able to concentrate and absorb knowledge when they are motivated by the right kind of activities”. Asha joined our school in early 2022.

Stuti - Educatrice Montessori anglophone (2 - 3  1/2 ans et 3-6 ans) // Toddler Community Teacher

Stuti est d'origine Indienne. Elle a obtenu sa licence de l'Université de Delhi et est un diplôme des formation d'enseignant Montessori de l'Université G.D.Goenka. Elle est également professionnellement formée et expérimentée dans la philosophie IB - PYP (International Baccalaureate - Primary Years Programme) et à une bonne connaissance du cadre EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) grâce à son travail en Angleterre. Elle travaille depuis 2012 et a de l'expérience dans l'enseignement de l'anglais à de jeunes enfants de cultures et de pays différents. Elle est passionnée par l'enseignement de la philosophie Montessori aux enfants et l'apprentissage à travers l'art plastique et la musique. Elle a rejoint l'école en 2021.

 

Sa citation préférée de Maria Montessori est "Les plus beaux cadeaux que nous puissions offrir à nos enfants sont les racines de la responsabilité et les ailes de l'indépendance."

 

Stuti is originally from India. She has a Honours degree in Humanities from University of Delhi and holds a Diploma for Montessori teacher training from G.D.Goenka University. She is also professionally trained and experienced in IB - PYP philosophy (International Baccalaureate - Primary Years Programme) and has a good understanding of EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework thanks to having worked in England. She has been working since 2012 and has experience mentoring young children from multicultural backgrounds as well as non native English speakers. She is passionate about teaching children through Montessori philosophy and engaging them experientially through art/crafts and music. She joined our school in 2021.

Séverine - Educatrice Montessori 3-6 / French-speaking Montessori teacher (Cottage Children's House)

Séverine a été scripte de fictions pour le cinéma et la télévision pendant plus de vingt ans. Maman de trois enfants et intéressée par les éducations alternatives, c’est après la naissance de son troisième qu’elle a décidé de se reconvertir professionnellement : Séverine a validé sa formation annuelle qualifiante d’éducatrice Montessori pour les enfants de 3 à 6 ans. Elle a également suivi une formation savoir-être et écocitoyenneté à l’école Living School de Paris. Séverine a travaillé dans deux autres écoles Montessori avant de nous rejoindre en 2022.

 

Une de ses citations préférées de Maria Montessori : « Une manière de mesurer la pertinence d’un modèle éducatif est le niveau de bonheur d’un enfant. »

 

Séverine was been a script editor for both cinema and television for 20 years before making the transition into alternative education. Mother of 3 children, she retrained to become a 3/6 Montessori teacher. Severine has also carried out training with the Living School in Paris focusing on “Savoir-Etre” and also Eco-citizenship. Séverine has previously worked in 2 other Montessori schools before joining our team in 2022.

 

One of her favourite Montessori quotations is “It is the level of happiness of a child which indicates how well the educational model is working.

Julia - Educatrice anglophone 3-6 / English-speaking Montessori teacher (Cottage Children's House)

Julia, finlandaise d’origine, est diplômée d’un master en pédagogie de l’Université d’Helsinki. Elle a travaillé avec plusieurs ONG dans le domaine de l’éducation en Tanzanie et au Madagascar, et ensuite pour des organisations internationales comme le World Food Programme et l’Unesco, ainsi que pour l’International School of Paris et l’Institut Culturel de Finlande à Paris. En travaillant trois ans comme éducatrice à l’école finlandaise, elle a eu l’habitude d’enseigner en langue étrangère de façon ludique, souvent en organisant les cours dehors dans la nature. Julia a terminé sa formation AMI 3-6 en anglais en 2022, et elle a rejoint Être et Découvrir en septembre 2022.  Sa citation préférée est « La joie est la preuve de l' épanouissement intérieur”.

 

Julia is originally from Finland. She has a master in pedagogy from the University of Helsinki. She has worked in many NGOs in Madagascar and Tanzania as well as for international organisations such as The World Food Programme and Unesco. After a stint at the Institut Culturel de Finlande in Paris, Julia taught first at the International School of Paris and later as a teacher at the Finnish school for 3 years where she enjoyed teaching English as a foreign language to children. She loves teaching in a playful way and loves being outside in nature with the children. Julia finished her AMI 3-6 Montessori training in English in 2022 and joined our school in September 2022.

Adriana (English speaking Montessori assistant)

Adriana harks from Brazil, but also has British nationality having lived in the UK for 17 years. She has a BA (Hons) in Motion Design and a Foundation Degree in Multimedia and worked in an array of creative positions in the Advertising and TV industry in London. After becoming a mother, she started learning about child development and carried out her 0-7 years Montessori teacher training with Montessori Centre International (MCI) in London. 

 

During her course at MCI, she attended a seminar in peaceful education. She is passionate about art and crafts, with an ephemeral approach to the activities she designs.

 

In her free time, she loves connecting to nature, meditation and yoga. She joined our school in early 2021. Adriana is in charge of our afternoon quiet room area and supporting children in our 3-6 classes. Adriana speaks Portuguese and English to mother tongue standard and is learning French.

Marina (Professeur de piano)

Marina est une pianiste concertiste, professeur de piano avec une grande expérience pédagogique. Elle a fait ses études au Conservatoire Nationale de Moscou, puis a mené une carrière de concertiste et au même temps a commencé à enseigner. Depuis 2007 elle s’est installée à Saint-Germain-en-Laye et est devenue professeur de piano dans une école de musique à Paris.
Les cours de Marina sont un lieu de spontanéité, d’écoute et de dialogue. Son approche est très personnalisée : Marina sait s’adapter au rythme de l’enfant, ses besoin et objectifs. Elle « intéresse » à la musique, la rend compréhensible, offre des parallèles avec la vie quotidienne.  Tout sera mis en œuvre pour que les cours de piano soient motivants : bienveillance, empathie et valorisation des acquis. Les cours sont ouverts aux enfants à partir de 5 ans. Elle parle le Russe (langue maternelle), l'anglais et le francais.
Marina is a concert pianist and piano teacher with extensive pedagogical experience. She studied at the Moscow National Conservatory and pursued a career as a concert pianist while also starting to teach. She settled in Saint-Germain-en-Laye in 2007 and has been a piano teacher at a music school in Paris.
Marina's lessons are a place of spontaneity, listening, and dialogue. Her approach is highly personalized. Marina knows how to adapt to the child's rythm, needs, and goals. She "engages" with the music, making it understandable and drawing parallels with everyday life.
Every effort will be made to make the piano lessons motivating, with kindness, empathy, and recognition of achievements. The lessons are open to children from the age of 5. Marina speaks Russian (mother tongue) as well as English and French fluently. She has been offering piano lessons in our school since Sepember 2023.

Barbara (Professeur de violon/Violin teacher)

Barbara est d'origine Polonaise. Elle est passionnée par son travail et elle aime vraiment travailler avec les enfants. Elle enseigne le violon de manière ludique depuis longtemps. Elle utilise la pédagogie Suzuki que les enfants adorent.

 

Barbara has been offering violin lessons at our school since 2021. She is originally from Poland and is passionate about her work as she truly loves teaching children. She teaches the violin using the Suzuki method which children fall in love with.  Barbara has been deeply inspired by Shiichi Suzuki who believed that learning music should be a joy. The title of his book about the Suzuki method of learning music is "Vivre, c'est aimer" which we highly recommend. Barbara speaks Polish (mother tongue), French (bilingual level) and some English.
